33-6 Murky Moonlight

>

Winter drags on.

Luna stands on the peak, calmly observing the Mutated Red Tide below.

She can "see" the Mutated Red Tide birthing alien "life" that doesn't belong here.

She "hears" the wind carrying deathly silence, alien pulses that shouldn't exist here.

A new... Agent Zero.

...

Luna holds out her hand, letting snowflakes fall through her fingers. She felt "it" growing even before rescuing the Gray Raven Commandant.

Strange creatures take shape in the Mutated Red Tide, lurking at the cliff's base.

What a disgusting presence.

Chaos has almost disappeared, and the new Agent Zero's silhouette is solidifying.

Driven by basic instincts, so eager to steal my power...

Looks like <phonetic=Agent Zero>you</phonetic> are nothing special after all.

Dim moonlight washes over the cliff.

Her frame was reformed in the Red Tide, absorbing its Punishing Virus power and gaining a sliver of its control...

But the new agent isn't bound by the old rules. Luna is powerless against the mutated Punishing Virus.

The new Agent Zero won't abandon Luna as "a source of nourishment". It needs to master all powers to challenge the original will of the Red Tide—Chaos.

Once the new Agent Zero consumes this area...

Luna turns slightly to the side. Behind her, out of sight, the Gray Raven Commandant struggles through the snow.

There will come a turning point... You'll find a perfect solution to the problems...

She whispers, repeating the mechanoid girl's "language" the Gray Raven Commandant told her.

A turning point...

...Tch.

It feels good to move again, Gray Raven Commandant.

She looks down at the newly formed Surge Mimicry.

She's been alone for too long, drifting through this desolate, frozen valley.

I'll help you keep the Red Tide in check and buy humanity some time to retreat. In return, once my sister is ready to enter the Inver-Hetero Tower, I want you to share whatever intel she uncovers with me.

She's already held up her end of the "deal".

She got intel on the Inver-Hetero Tower and, as promised, protected humanity's last stand.

And now...

Let's call this a new deal, shall we?

I'll trade a "future" to see you safe.

Cold wind blows the moonlight from the trees. Luna's voice is lost to the wind.

Luna

If you really can find that "singularity"...

As long as humanity survives... Earth might have a chance.

After all, she was born and raised here. She doesn't want to see this planet taken over by aliens.

She'll hold out as long as she can, keeping the Red Tide from overwhelming humanity.

From now on...

She must continue alone now.

Good luck, [player name].

She jumps off the cliff.

...

The pink-haired Construct stands on a distant peak, watching the Mutated Red Tide spread like a flood.

The pages in her hand flip without a breeze, while two dice spin and stop on two identical numbers.
