20-13 Time to Say Goodbye

>

After calling "Bianca" for one last time, Chiko fell in the sea. She didn't sink to the bottom, but turned into numerous Punishing Virus particles that gradually disappeared in the air.

Bianca reaches out but cannot hold anything.

The sea breeze seems to have brought Chiko's unfinished words.

Help me

Kill me

Don't go

Farewell

Is this what Chiko was longing for?

She must be fearing the loss of life at her final moment.

But fear is the source of many emotions. It drives people forward.

Humans are perfect because they are imperfect. The courage to live on comes from facing our weaknesses, not from denying or alienating them.

Like Chiko said, Bianca knew she was beyond redemption, so she put an end to her suffering and carried on with this guilt.

Bianca

Chiko... I will carry the weight of your life and continue moving forward.

A core fragment drops from Chiko's remaining body as if she has heard Bianca's response. The fragment actively lets Bianca's lamp absorb itself. There seems to be a connection between them.

Karenina has come from the coastline defense. After confirming Bianca is safe, she turns to the fragment with suspicion.

I hope it's not some sort of Ascendant secret weapon...

It almost feels like a loot that dropped from the boss...

Argh, Kamui... Stop thinking of your games. We still need to clear up the battlefield.

After killing a Hetero-Creature trying to crawl to the shore, Wanshi also follows over.

The tide of Hetero-Creatures has mostly withdrawn. After the Hetero-Humanoid was defeated, the suppression of Omega Weapons also began to intensify. Everyone has gathered near the shore, watching the surreal view.

Finally, it's all over now... Bianca, Chiko...

Commandant... Do you think Chiko had her redemption in the end?

...True. The human heart is the last thing that can be saved in a war.

Hmm...?

...

Indeed. I too believe Bianca must have kept the promise between her and Chiko.

Yep. Just like Gray Raven always delivers our promises.

...

Lee looks away as if he does not want others to see his expression.

Lee

Nothing. Just some commandant being sentimental again.

Lee does feel a little weird. Recently, he has been working on the adaptation of a new frame in the Science Council. Even other Gray Raven members do not get to see him that often.

...But now is not the time to ask.

I'm glad you still remember we're on a mission. Let's clear up the battlefield first.

Liv looks at Lee and you, finally realizing something is a little odd.

Sure. I agree with both Commandant and Lee. I'm just so happy that we get to fight together and win the battle again. Gray Raven will get rid of the rest of the Hetero-Creatures on the west side.

Lucia is just as forthright as always.

Pff...

What's the matter?

Nothing. Commandant, everyone, let's keep fighting together.

Did someone just tell a joke that I didn't get?

No... But we haven't been together like this for a long time. I'm so glad, Lucia!

Yeah!

This grand battle is about to come to an end with the setting sun. Lee stands on the war-torn shore, gazing at where the Hetero-Humanoid disappeared with a deep frown.
